What to pack?

Expect Los Angeles (LA) to be a semi-arid climate. LA is often described as a borderline “Mediterranean climate”, with a dry summer and rainy winter. All of our wedding festivities will take place in August, the hottest month of the year! The average high is in the mid-80s with some counties experiencing averages in the 90s and 100 range (e.g., San Fernando Valley, Inland Empire, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree).

Humidity is very low and we typically have no rainfall in the month of August. For those with heat sensitivity, we recommend small portable fans or UV umbrellas to keep you out of the sun.

We strongly recommend light sweaters for drops in temperature each evening, typically in the mid 60s (which is cold for California!) due to ocean breeze and mountain/desert winds. For those coming from warmer climates (e.g., Benin, Congo, etc.), consider packing a windbreaker or light jacket for these chiller evenings.

When it comes to what to pack, consider what activities you plan on doing in addition to attending the wedding ceremony and reception. To accommodate the many activities available in LA, we recommend packing comfortable walking shoes, swimwear for visits to the beach or pool, sunglasses and hats for shade against the sun, sunscreen for UV protection, along with summer clothes for outings (e.g., dresses, shorts, skirts, T-Shirts). Most restaurants are smart-casual, so prepare for specific requirements by establishment (e.g., no flip-flops, shirt/shoes required, etc.)

Our wedding will be Black Tie formal, but we encourage all of our guests to pack clothing that they are most comfortable with, including light jackets for cooler evening temperatures.
